Hi, I’m Valerie!

Welcome! My name is Valerie Hamaker. I have a Master’s Degree in counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University with special training in marriage and family counseling.  I am a Nationally Certified Counselor, a licensed professional counselor in Kansas and a provisionally licensed counselor in Missouri. I am a certified Sexual Addictions Treatment Provider and a Certified Play Therapist.   I am a certified Prepare and Enrich marriage facilitator and have also completed Dave Ramsey’s Financial Coaching Masters Series. I also have a Master’s degree from UMKC and a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University.

I operate a marriage and family counseling private practice called All About Attachment, LLC.  I enjoy working with individuals and couples in all life stages, weaving elements of emotional, spiritual, mental, and relationship wellness into my clinical work. I have clinical experience working with high risk teens and recently my two adolescent daughters and I launched an anti-bullying campaign sponsored by the popular Discovery Girls Magazine, where they presented to over 500 adolescents in local schools and churches in our community.

I enjoy presenting on issues of marriage, family, and faith and have had many opportunities to do so over the past twenty years in professional, academic, community, and ecclesiastical settings.  I am currently engaged in a qualitative research project focusing on the changing nature of intimacy due to the heavy influence of technology and social media. Please see my “research” tab on my home page if you are interested in more information about this topic.

The most important part of my life is my relationship with God and I feel so fortunate that my work in counseling allows me to serve God and others while also working to improve my relationship with my own husband and our four children.  I feel so lucky that I get to practice each day in my own life what I am working on clinically with each person I am blessed to work with.  I am  grateful that you have found me and hope that we can continue to connect.
